PatentAgility for Microsoft Word
Install the experimental Word add-in to open PatentAgility tools from a dedicated ribbon tab and analyze selected or pasted document text.

Step 1: Download Word Plugin Manifest
The manifest XML file tells Word where to load PatentAgility and adds the PatentAgility ribbon tab as a "sideloaded" plugin.
Step 2: Install on Word
Two methods are available depending on your verson of Word:
Word for the Web
- Download
manifest.xmlabove. - Open a document in Word for the web.
- Select Home → Add-ins → More Settings.
- Select Upload My Add-in.
- Choose the downloaded manifest and select Upload.
- Open the new PatentAgility ribbon.
The browser might only stores this plugin locally/temporarily.
Word for Windows
- Create a folder, share it in Windows, and place the downloaded
manifest.xmlinside it. - Copy the folder's UNC network path, such as
\\YOUR-PC\OfficeAddins. - In Word, open File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings.
- Open Trusted Add-in Catalogs, enter the UNC path as the catalog URL, and select Add catalog.
- Select Show in Menu, close every Word window, and reopen Word.
- Select Home → Add-ins → Advanced → Shared Folder.
- Select PatentAgility for Word, choose Add, and open the new PatentAgility ribbon tab.
This is a temporary approach given the beta nature of this plug-in.
Deploy to an Organization
A Microsoft 365 administrator can test or deploy the manifest through Microsoft 365 Admin Center → Settings → Integrated apps, assign it to specific users or a pilot group, and avoid configuring a shared catalog on every computer.
- Open Settings → Integrated apps in Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
- Choose to upload a custom app or add-in and upload
manifest.xml. - Assign it to a small beta group first.
- After deployment completes, have users restart Word.
Review Microsoft's deployment options (opens in a new tab) before any broader rollout.
Beta help
If the ribbon does not appear, restart Word. For shared-catalog testing, confirm that Show in Menu is enabled and reinstall the add-in after any manifest change.
